CAROL ANN SCHEPERS HILLEARY

Carol Hilleary

Now retired, Carol Ann Schepers Hilleary taught and held administrative positions within the Baltimore County Public School System between 1966 and 2001. After working inside the classroom as an education teacher for just over a decade, she was promoted to assistant principal and later principal at Riderwood Elementary School in 1992, where she remained until her retirement. During her distinguished career, Ms. Hilleary was active in her community as a member of the Baltimore County Public School-based Management Team.

Moving to Southwest Florida at the conclusion of her teaching career, Ms. Hilleary became the executive director of marketing and call centers for Sylvan Learning Centers from 2002 to 2010. She simultaneously flourished as a realtor for BMI International between 2006 and 2013 and Sellstate Priority Realty between 2013 and 2019. She was a member of the Sellstate Priority Realty board of directors between 2011 and 2018 as well.

As a realtor, Ms. Hilleary mostly sold residential properties, in addition to some quadruplexes such as vacation rentals. she works with first-time homebuyers and sellers. She loves working with young people because they absorb everything that is presented to them. While working as a realtor, Ms. Hilleary sold real estate in Collier and Lee Counties.

Additionally, Ms. Hilleary was also active as a consultant and speaker at Towson State University, as well as a presenter in her field. Civically, she provided her time and expertise as a host, an organizer and a planner for the Maryland Hunger Summit at Riderwood Elementary School. A member of the architectural planning committee of the Wellington Valley Improvement Association in Lutherville, Maryland, Ms. Hilleary found success as a liaison for the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore.

A respected voice in the field, Ms. Hilleary contributed to the “Language Arts-Literary Favorites” in 1978, and was an author and consultant to the 1981 resource guide “Learning Basic Math Facts-Remedial.” She also served as the editor for “Resource Book for Chapter I Inservice” in 1982. Ms. Hilleary additionally penned contributions to the 1994 book “National Blue Ribbon Schools Best Ideas, Vol. II.”

Ms. Hilleary received a Bachelor of Science in elementary education and psychology at Towson State University in 1971. She continued her studies at the aforementioned university, graduating with a Master of Science in elementary education in 1975. Likewise, Ms. Hilleary is certified as an elementary teacher for grades 1-8, certified as a middle school principal and licensed as a realtor.

Ms. Hilleary’s greatest achievement thus far is being able to pull everything that she has ever learned through life together. For example, the relationship that she has with her husband and her family and seeing that translated by reaching out to them or others, such as friends of hers or those from Bible study, and just seeing that things are working out for them is rewarding. A recognized member of several industry-related organizations, Ms. Hilleary is a member and a former secretary of the Association of Elementary School Administrators. She is also affiliated with the National Association of Elementary School Administrators, the Maryland Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, and the Congress of Administrative and Supervisory Employees. Upon becoming a realtor, she became aligned with the Royal Palm Coast Realtors Association, the Kiwanis, Phi Delta Kappa and several religious organizations.

Previously recognized as the Teacher of the Year by the Middle River Chamber of Commerce in 1977, Ms. Hilleary accepted a National School of Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Education in 1994, and several grants from the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Baltimore County Government during the 1990s. In recognition of her career as a realtor, she was presented with several Gold and Platinum Awards between 2013 and 2019. A celebrated Marquis listee, Ms. Hilleary has been included in the fifth edition of Who’s Who in American Education.

Enjoying her retirement, Ms. Hilleary likes to exercise, read, listen to music and participate in Bible study, dog handling and breeding in her spare time. She attributes her success to her faith, relationships with family and fellowships with other Christians who help reaffirm her beliefs in the Bible. In the coming years, Ms. Hilleary hopes to continue with her real estate endeavors, volunteering at her local church, and spending quality time with family and friends.
