Three key characteristics led Dr. Macrene Alexiades to her current career: intellectual excellence, artistic talent passed down by her mother, and integrity. Although she originally wanted to be an artist and sculptor, she fell in love with science at Harvard University, where she ended up earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1989 and both a PhD and MD in 1997. She believes her artistic background is an asset to her dermatologic endeavors; she is top in her field for achieving a natural and classically beautiful result using injectables.
Currently, Dr. Alexiades serves as the founder and owner of two skin care companies, Dr. Macrene Skin Results and NY Derm LLC. The former has been operational since 2009 and the latter since 2005. She has also been an attending physician at Yale New Haven and West Haven Hospitals since 2006, and an assistant clinical professor at Yale School of Medicine, adjunct clinical professor at Sygros Hospital at the University of Athens, and president and director of dermatology and laser surgery at Macrenee Alexiades-Armenakas, MD, PhD, PC, since 2003. Further, she has worked with Lenox Hill Hospital as an attending physician since 2001. Other positions Dr. Alexiades have held include consultant dermatologist to L’Oreal Paris, admissions interviewer at Harvard Medical School, director of research and laser dermatology at the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York, and science advisor to the Archdiocese of North America.
