Motivated by the unconditional love of her clients, Christyann “Chris” Mayhew is proud to have served as an independent psychological consultant in San Antonio for more than two decades. She presently works with those who have a dual diagnosis, which means that they have both low intelligence and a mental health diagnosis. Ms. Mayhew services these people to help them live quality, independent lives, and to make sure they are happy with their jobs and their homes. She also writes behavior plans, tests IQs, and does psychological assessments.

Prior to consulting, Ms. Mayhew worked at state schools and at health care companies. Some of her positions include clinical psychologist for San Antonio State School and HCS program director for the Educare Community Living Corporation. She maintains a job as a clinical psychologist for Camino Real Community Services to this day.

Ms. Mayhew prepared for her endeavors by earning a Master of Education in guidance and counseling from Texas State University in 1991, a Master of Science in physical education from Baylor University in 1977, and a Bachelor of Arts in physical education at The University of Texas at Arlington in 1976. She also became a certified authorized provider by HHS through the state of Texas, a certified sex counselor through AASECT, a licensed specialist in school psychology, a licensed professional counselor, a certified psychological associate, a certified public school counselor, and a certified special education counselor.

As a testament to her achievements, Ms. Mayhew was honored with the Marquis Who’s Who Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018, inclusion in Cambridge Who’s Who of Executives, Professionals and Entrepreneurs in 2008, and the Employee of the Year award from San Antonio State School Community Services in 1995. The school district also granted her a Volunteer Services Leadership Award in 1993 and a Green Stamp Award from San Antonio State School. She attributes her success to her hard work, as well as to her caring and intuitive nature.

Over the course of the next few years, Ms. Mayhew hopes to explore some of her other many and varied interests. She enjoys shooting guns, target shooting, photography, water polo, traveling, and doing Fletcher’s Pilates. She is also part of a master swim team called MOST, and is involved with charitable organizations like the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Another one of her goals is writing a spiritual book or novel.
