Heidi LoewenHeidi Loewen has found much success as a distinguished curator, gallerist and sculptor with decades of experience in the New York visual arts landscape. She attributes her success to her parents, who encouraged her to approach the world with kindness and to follow a path that made her happy. She initially pursued an education at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, graduating in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science in fine art, studio art, art history and languages. During her enrollment at Skidmore College, Ms. Loewen studied abroad at Sorbonne University in Paris.

From 1979 to 1986, Ms. Loewen worked as the business manager of the prestigious Sotheby’s Art Auction House in New York. She subsequently departed Sotheby to assume the role of an assistant curator for the Spring Creek Art Foundation in Boston, where she remained active through 1990. Since 1998, Ms. Loewen has excelled as the owner, as well as an artist and teacher, of the Heidi Loewen Fine Art Restoration in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Through this role, she does ceramic restoration within the restoration realm, without totally excluding herself to that medium.

When Ms. Loewen was a young child growing up in Rochester, New York, she came from a family that was very musically inclined. Music has been one of her biggest sources of inspiration, as well as nature and scenic views. She later discovered clay and sculpture had been her calling. Ms. Loewen attributes her success to her two amazing parents. Her mother was a nurse during World War II, and became a great painting and collage artist.

Looking toward the future, Ms. Loewen hopes to continue to show her work around the world. Likewise, she has also been invited to many international exhibitions and hopes to further build her extensive network of collectors. Furthermore, Ms. Loewen is a member of the Santa Fe Art Gallery Association and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, and has been working on six or seven different publications.
