KIM TRAINOR DAVIS

Every day, Kim Trainor Davis strives to live by her motto, “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.” That’s why she chose a career in writing and communications. She has harbored a passion for the field since the sixth grade and, in her eyes, becoming a journalist would grant her the opportunity to get paid to learn. Ms. Trainor Davis proceeded to earn a Bachelor of Arts in journalism at Texas Tech University in 1988. She spent the next five years building her rapport and garnering experience in the industry.

Eventually, however, Ms. Trainor Davis decided to take a leap of faith and start her own communications firm. Nomiss Communication was created to offer media relations, public relations, and crisis communication services. She thought the shift to public relations was ideal because of her personal knowledge of how reporters work and how the media thinks. Although it was a risk, Ms. Trainor Davis couldn’t be happier with how things turned out. Her business is celebrating 10 years as a nationally-recognized firm, and she has built lifelong relationships with a variety of clients from a variety of industries. In her role as the owner and president of Nomiss Communication, she is responsible for offering assistance in media strategies and immediate crisis communications, researching companies, planning media campaigns, social networking, defending clients’ reputations, and writing for multiple outlets, from magazines to newspapers. Some of the things that set her apart from others are her belief that being a good listener is often better than being a good speaker and her honesty and adaptability.

Looking to the future, Ms. Trainor Davis would like to bring on a partner to help her grow the company. She is currently working with advisers to create a business plan and identify the best path forward. She hopes to leave a legacy that will ultimately take over the company.

When Ms. Trainor Davis isn’t working, she is helping out in her community. Over the years, she has been affiliated with the local branch of United Way Worldwide, the National CASA Association, Sondra’s Song, and the local chamber of commerce. Her hobbies include sports and reading.
