Who's Who of Professional Women

LESLIE DAVIS

Growing up, Leslie Davis initially always wanted to be a nurse. She was intrigued by science and felt it was her destiny to help people in need. However, when she graduated high school, things did not work out in a way that allowed her to do so. She further married a preacher and they moved around frequently. She eventually attended Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, and earned a Bachelor of Science in religion. Ms. Davis later received an Associate of Science in accounting from George C. Wallace States Community College in 1980. When her husband passed away, she made the decision to go back to school and obtain a nursing degree, further receiving an associate’s degree from Alabama Southern Community College.

For 12 years, Ms. Davis worked as a registered nurse throughout Alabama. As a nurse, her area of expertise was in mental health. From 2009 to 2011, she contributed to Montgomery ARC as a nursing coordinator before assuming employment with Green Springs Assisted Living as a nurse until 2012. The goal of the program is to provide the participants with several workshops focused on knowledge and leadership skills.

Additionally, Ms. Davis was the past president of the Clergy Spouses Organization for the United Methodist Church. Through this affiliation, she was responsible for providing fellowship, ministry and personal growth opportunities to spouses of clergy members in the congregation. What attracted Ms. Davis to her profession was her upbringing and family history. The advice that she can offer the next generation or others aspiring to work in her profession would be to go after their dreams. She attributes her successful career to simply waking up and going to do what she has to on a daily basis.

In the coming years, Ms. Davis would like to continue growing her business. As an entrepreneur, she rents baby equipment to traveling families and hopes to see that flourish in the next five years or so. In addition, she wishes to do a considerable amount of traveling around the world. Ms. Davis would like to leave a legacy or be remembered by her peers, family and community as someone who helped.
