Who's Who of Professional Women

PAMELA R. MOORE

Desiring the work with students and share her love of reading, Pamela R. Moore chose her career because she wanted something that she wanted to have a positive impact on today’s youth. It has definitely been a pleasure to have benefited or influenced as many students as she has. Throughout holding her position as a master of specific learning disabilities, Ms. Moore is able to stay current in her profession because she likes to attend different leadership conferences that are held for teachers. She enjoys hearing the other teachers’ ideas and enthusiasms. With that in mind, she is willing to work in new ideas and techniques.

Ms. Moore began her career as a high school learning disabilities teacher in Paulding, Ohio, in 1991, remaining in this position for eight years before switching to serve in the role of middle school reading teacher, which she has continued to do ever since. In addition, she has served as a middle school English language arts (ELA) teacher since 2014. Ms. Moore has also enjoyed being able to be involved in a variety of extracurricular activities such as coaching sports teams, specifically track and volleyball, and serving in multiple advisory positions for students.

Prior to the start of her professional career, Ms. Moore pursued a formal education at Defiance College in Ohio, earning a Bachelor of Science in 1990. She went on to matriculate at St. Francis University in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where she attained a Master of Science in 1995. What separates Ms. Moore from others is that whatever they have that she feels is successful for her students, she would like to adapt for herself, such as their successes. Whatever they have tried and enjoyed in the classroom, she would like to mimic also. She would like to be remembered by her peers as someone who would at least attempt to care for the students and care for others.

A recipient of the prestigious Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award, what is next for Ms. Moore in a couple of years is that she would like to continue in her career and then possibly do something part-time. She attributes much of her success to a high school art teacher named Sharon Healei. In her spare time, Ms. Moore has been known to enjoy spending time with her pets, friends and grandchildren, gardening flowers and reading. She is married to her loving husband of 42 years, Chet, with whom she has raised two wonderful daughters, Amy Renae and Cheryl Kae.
