SALLY MARIA SCHOTT

Passionate about fulfilling her goal of making a positive difference in the lives of others, Sally Maria Schott is extremely active in her field. She has been a founding partner of Alliance Music Publications since 1994, the supervisor of student teachers at the University of Houston since 2004, a member of the educational advisory board of the Houston Chamber Choir since 2004, the president of Schott Bradshaw Publication, LLC, since 2006, the supervisor of student teachers at Sam Houston State University since 2008, and an advisory board member of Houston Boychoir since 2013.

Prior to her current endeavors, Ms. Schott served as the choral director of South Houston High School from 1974 to 2004 and the choral director of Jackson Intermediate from 1965 to 1974. Other positions include educational consultant to the Bay Area Chorus, minority partner of AMC Music, and consultant at American Classic Music Festivals. She prepared by earning a Master of Music in education at North Texas State University in 1966 and a Bachelor of Music at the Oklahoma College of Women in 1964.

Over the years, some Ms. Schott’s most notable accomplishments include coordinating the writing team of Sing in 1988, editing “Howard Swan: Conscience of a Profession” in 1987 and “Something to Sing About” in 1981, and conducting and teaching “Charlene Archibeque: How to Make a Good Choir Sound Great!” She also produced “Salamunovich: Chant and Beyond” and “Noble: Perpetual Inspiration.” She parlayed her experiences into roles like newsletter editor and president of the American Choral Directors Association and state vice president of the Texas Choral Directors Association.

As a testament to her success, Ms. Schott earned the Bell Award from the Houston Symphony School in 2013, the Distinctive Service Award from the Bay Area Chorus in 2008, and the Choral Excellence Award from the Texas Choral Directors Association in 2008. She was also named Outstanding Young Educator by the Pasadena Jaycees and High School Teacher of the Year in Pasadena, Calif., and to the Hall of Fame of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

When Ms. Schott has free time, she enjoys hobbies like photography, travel, and sports.
