Teaching isn’t work to Rosa Scott, it’s a passion. She was inspired to enter the field by her brother, and is now excelling as a teacher in the after-school program at Montauk School and as a substitute teacher in Lexington, Va., schools. She has also held roles like substitute teacher at East Hampton School and Springs School, and lead teacher of the Suffolk Community College Child Care Center, the East Hampton Day Care, and the after-school program at Springs School. Prior to entering the field, Ms. Scott served as a cashier and clerk for Brook’s Pharmacy, secretary of Frank Hanna’s Cleaning Company, and cosmetologist for Rosa’s Beauty Shop. Currently a faculty associate of the California Institute of Technology, Inge Juliana Sackmann Christy loves having the opportunity to advance her field. Her main areas of interest include astrophysics, astronomy, and physics, and she has pursued them at a variety of locations for more than five decades. Dr. Sackmann Christy started out as a postdoctoral fellow at Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and the Max-Planck Institute for Physics and Astrophysics at Max-Planck-Gesellschaft in Germany, and continued on as a research associate for Hamburger Sternwarte in Germany in 1971. She moved to the U.S. that same year, when she joined the California Institute of Technology as a research fellow.
