Her journey began at Nicolas Copernicus University in Poland, where she earned a master’s degree in biology in 1976. To further her professional standing, she obtained a PhD from the Academy of Agriculture and Technology in Poland in 1985, a diploma in English as a second language from the New York Institute of Business Technology in 1994, and an MD from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine. Inspired by a young nurse in her hometown of Donegal, Ireland, Brighid O’Donnell Kelly has never strayed from her dream of pursuing and practicing health care. She became a registered general nurse from the Eastern District Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1960 and a certified midwives board from the North Middlesex Hospital in London, England, in 1961, and she was off.
