ALEXANDRA “ALLI” NAGG

Alexandra NaggAlexandra “Alli” Nagg, MS, LPC, NCC, was inspired to a career in psychology by her mother, who worked in adjudication for a psychiatrist. Her mother’s interest in psychology inspired her own and that, combined with her desire to help others, led her to settle on her career path by the time she was 12. First earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, with a double minor in sociology and women’s studies, from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she then completed an internship between 2001 and 2002 under the guidance of Dr. Carolyn Menta before achieving her Master of Science in professional counseling from Carlow University in 2008. In 2011, Ms. Nagg achieved her licensure as a professional counselor and is additionally certified as an alcohol and drug counselor, a national certified counselor, a mental health integrative medicine provider and holds a certificate in advanced mindfulness.

Active professionally since 2002, Ms. Nagg worked with a variety of clinics and practices over the years. She has had the good fortune to work alongside her mentor, Dr. Menta, at more than one location, including at Nurse Psychiatric Associates and Family Psychological. Since 2017, she has excelled in as a licensed professional counselor in private practice at Counseling Wellness of Indiana County, alongside two other therapists and an office manager. In her day-to-day work, her primary focus is on mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression, as well as abuse related trauma and eating disorders. Ms. Nagg considers the most gratifying part of her career to be every time she has been able to talk someone down from suicidal thoughts.

Raised with an emphasis toward ambition, Ms. Nagg’s father was a business owner and he was the one who encouraged her to pursue private practice as a major career goal. Having now achieved that, she attributes much of her success to her empathy and her resolution to always put her clients first. She has also been very grateful to the support of her husband, Steven, who has stood by her side through getting her master’s degree, starting her own business, and more. For her excellence, Ms. Nagg was recognized early on by her alma maters with inclusion on their dean’s lists, and she has since been featured in the Pennsylvania therapy professionals directory by Psychology Today.
