Who's Who of Professional Women

DELY PO GO

Dely Go

Dely Po Go, DNP, RN, LNHA, was inspired to a career in nursing out of a desire to care for her own family, particularly her parents and children. Born in the Philippines to father Tuana Go and mother Paquita Honda, she completed her early education at Silliman University in Dumaguete, Philippines, ultimately becoming licensed as a registered nurse. After she and her husband moved to the United States with their children, Harry and Hadel, Dr. Go sought to further her studies at Fairleigh Dickinson University, from which she earned her Master of Science in nursing, summa cum laude, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice, also summa cum laude, in 2012.

Dr, Go is also a licensed nursing home administrator. After completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice, she furthered her knowledge of nursing home administration. She took the license nursing home administration course and passed the exams given by the National Administration Board.

Committed to nursing education and service, Dr. Go has served in a variety of roles, including working as an administrator in a long-term care facility and developing and running a nursing agency with over 500 nurses. She notably founded and served as chief executive officer of both the AVTECH Institute of Technology and Allied Health, a practical nursing school, and is the president and owner of Nursing Network LLC. Currently, she is also a faculty member for both William Paterson University and Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she serves as an adviser for the Henry P. Becton School of Nursing and Allied Health.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Go’s goal is to expand her service range, bringing her skills in nursing education and long-term care to other countries. She further hopes to involve herself in efforts to combat the ongoing nurse shortage, since it is not only a matter of ensuring quality care for patients but of creating healthy work environments for nurses to mitigate overworking and burnout. One of the most important lessons she has learned over the years is the importance of careful thought and emotional intelligence when dealing regularly with a large number of people, something that she does every day when working with the more than 500 nurses in her employ. Dr. Go’s absolute favorite part of her career is providing patients with compassion, care and inspiration, and simply being there when the patient needs her.

Standing out in her field for her focus on training other nurses and her business expertise, which gives her a unique edge in the field, Dr. Go is incredibly active in philanthropy and volunteer work as well. She was selected as one of the five people to serve on a committee established by the Philippine Consulate to provide funding for various projects to benefit the Filipino community and aided in the development of “Bridges to Success Ambulatory Care Services,” which serves the homeless population. Additionally, Dr. Go has done volunteer work with military personnel returning from deployment and regularly contributes to the New Jersey Business & Industry Association, the United Way of Passaic County, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Healing the Children International. Dr. Go was selected as the grand marshal of the Philippines’ 125th Independence Day anniversary parade of two continents, in New York and New Jersey in the United States and Milan, Italy.

Proud of having achieved so much in her career while raising her children, Dr. Go has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades for her accomplishments in business, nursing and philanthropy. She was named an Outstanding Alumna by both Silliman University and Fairleigh Dickinson University and among New Jersey’s 50 Best Women in Business by NJBIZ. Additionally, she was presented with a Nurse Recognition Award by the New Jersey League for Nursing, the Nurse DIVA Award by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, the Humanitarian Award by the Philippine Nurses Association Foundation, and a Woman of Peace Award by the Women’s Federation for World Peace International. More recently, Dr. Go was honored with a Most Outstanding and Distinguished Award by Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2014, as well as inducted into their Pinnacle Society, and two DAISY Awards for Outstanding Nursing Faculty from William Paterson University in 2015 and 2016.
