Logan Smith

Raised in Sand Rock, Alabama, by parents Kyle and Rhonda Smith, who have been staunch supporters of her education, Logan Ann-Marie Smith moved to Jacksonville, Alabama, to study at Jacksonville State University, where she was drawn to the pharmaceutical field by the diversity of career options it offered. She began her career as a pharmacy technician at CVS Pharmacy in 2012, a position she held until 2015 when she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology and chemistry. From there, Dr. Smith relocated to Knoxville, Tennessee, where she earned a Doctor of Pharmacy from the School of Pharmacy at South College in 2018, graduating with highest honors and the Merck Award for Excellent Patient Care.

Licensed by the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy that same year, Dr. Smith joined PharMerica as a long-term care pharmacist, rising to become pharmacist-in-charge by the time she left in 2022. During this period, she was licensed by the Alabama Board of Pharmacy in 2019, the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy in 2022, and became a board-certified geriatric pharmacist in early 2022. With a long-standing interest in the medicinal side of health care and a passion for optimizing patient therapies and outcomes, Dr. Smith places emphasis on her work collaborating with patients and other health care professionals to ensure the proper course of treatment needed to improve quality of life.

In 2021, Dr. Smith joined AspenRx Health, where she works as a clinical pharmacist, counseling patients via online medication therapy management. She also recently joined ContinuumRx in 2022 as the pharmacy director, where she is responsible for overseeing the compounding of intravenous medications, including antibiotic, IVIG, and total parenteral nutrition therapies, to patients at home and in the clinic. Dr. Smith also remains a preceptor to South College and Belmont University pharmacy school students in hopes to increase interest in geriatric care and home infusion. She maintains professional affiliation with The Rho Chi Society, the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. With a strong personal drive and a list of things she hopes to achieve before she turns 30, she is motivated by the desire to continuously broaden her knowledge as a pharmacist.

Looking toward the future, Dr. Smith hopes to continue to be an advocate for patient care and grow her professional skills through research of new therapies. She will continue to pursue licensure as a pharmacist in other states as well as board certification in clinical nutrition. She would advise young and aspiring professionals to be open to discovering their passions, not only in a career, but in all aspects of life.
