MONET E. JOHNSON

Monet Johnson

Inspired to her career out of a desire to create something that would last for generations to come, Monet E. Johnson began her studies with paralegal coursework in 1992. Throughout the years she has been continually motivated by the part she has played to create and support structures that benefit her community and, in 2010, she achieved the position of vice president of marketing for SME Industries, Inc. In this position, she is responsible for all public relations and communications, both internally and externally; collaborating with various departments; and providing support for government and political affairs. Furthermore, she also joined Southwest Steel, CoreBrace and Southwest Architectural Metals as the vice president of marketing in 2010, where she oversees operations, web development and social media management, and became the principal for the Vasona Group LLC in 2012. Today, Ms. Johnson serves as the vice president of marketing for 10 companies, which now includes DuraFuse Frames as of 2019.

As she furthered her career, Ms. Johnson also furthered her education, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in organizational communications, public relations and business from Brigham Young University-Idaho in partnership with Harvard Business School in 2012 and a Master of Business Administration in management and operations from Haroun Education Ventures in 2021. She has also received numerous additional certifications in leadership, training and development, emotional intelligence, finance and accounting, and more, from such groups as the Corporate Finance Institute, Eddington Advisory and Coaching, the Complementary Therapists Accredited Association, The Priority Academy, SME Steel, The Expert Academy and Udemy. Ms. Johnson is currently working on certifications in business intelligence and data analysis and financial modeling and valuation analysis with the Corporate Finance Institute.

Alongside her primary responsibilities, Ms. Johnson is a noted speaker in her field and is a permanent guest speaker for the Delta Gamma sorority at the University of Utah. She also served as a guest lecturer for the Master Mind Lecture Series for the Center for Advancement of Leadership at Utah Valley University in 2010 and 2012 and was a keynote speaker for TARS in 2008. In order to keep abreast of developments in her field, she also maintains involvement with the International Council on Women’s Business Leadership, the World Trade Association of Utah, the National Association of Women in Construction, the American Institute of Steel Construction, the American Welding Society, the Design-Build Institute of America and the Structural Engineers Association of California.

Ms. Johnson has also been incredibly active in her local community and cites the highlight of her career to be her appointment as the president of her local chapter of Rotary International. It was notably her work with Rotary International that led to her being featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for helping to create the world’s largest human wheel. She has also served as a corporate liaison for the Friends of the Drug Court Foundation, a board member for the West Jordan Chamber of Commerce, a presidential leadership program mentor with the Center for the Advancement of Leadership, and dedicated three years to feeding homeless individuals in her community. In addition, in 2019, Ms. Johnson had the honor to sit on the United Nations’ 2019 assembly planning committee for the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

For excellence in her career, Ms. Johnson has been the recipient of a number of honors and accolades. In 2020, she was recognized by the Engineering News-Record among the Groundbreaking Women in Construction. More recently, she was named a Marketing Professional of the Year by the Utah Business magazine and an Influential Woman in Business by the Salt Lake magazine in 2021. Ms. Johnson has also been featured as an honored listee of Marquis Who’s Who and will be appearing in the upcoming edition of Who’s Who of Professional Women.
