A married couple she had been working with suddenly faced financial struggles when the pregnant wife lost her job. She had been making more than half of what her husband was earning, so it was a significant loss that left them with no other option but to cancel their pending purchase, despite spending almost $50,000 on upgrades and design.
When Ms. Stavinsky told the vice president of sales they had to cancel and refund, she declined and said the company would keep the money. She escalated the matter to the company president and explained the couple’s situation, and the president decided to refund the total amount.
