First earning a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from John Carroll University in 1996, Sara Sutter began her career that same year as a management consultant for the utilities department of PwC, rising to the position of principal management consultant before she left the company in 2002. From there, she joined SAP, where she excelled as a public services consulting manager, utilities practice manager and the director of public services and health care between 2008 and 2016. During this time, Ms. Sutter additionally obtained certification in SAP’s utilities solution and achieved a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

In 2016, Ms. Sutter joined Utegration, an IT service management company, as the director of consulting. She then rose to chief talent officer in 2018 before attaining her current position of chief people officer in 2021. In her current role, she is responsible for a wide range of human resources duties, including performance management, compensation planning, the annual performance review process, event planning, and more. She is particularly proud of managing the set up of the human resources department for Utegration’s expansion into Canada. Looking toward the future, Ms. Sutter hopes to expand her reach and help other companies build cultures that value people and high quality work.

Alongside her primary responsibilities, Ms. Sutter is an active member of the Society for Human Resources Management, through which she has received “certified professional” designation. Furthermore, she attributes much of her success to the excellent mentors she has had over the years, who helped her develop her skills in the field through providing her feedback and then encouraging her to implement it in her own way. This has allowed her to develop her own unique management style, work ethic and compassion for her teammates, all while maintaining her emphasis on hard work. In her free time, Ms. Sutter stays involved in her community through membership in her local Presbyterian church.
