SHAKITA RANDLE LEWIS

Shakita Lewis

Shakita Randle Lewis was inspired to a career in home care by her father, who lived with diabetes for many years before his passing. Watching and helping her mother provide care for her father led to Ms. Lewis’ own passion for helping others. Having obtained a diploma from the Southwest Georgia Institute of Education in 2000, she decided to make the shift to health care and became certified as a CPR and first aid instructor and a certified nursing assistant. From 2007 to 2013, she worked as a certified nursing assistant in Albany, Georgia, working with the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in this capacity from 2008 to 2010. Subsequently, Ms. Lewis became a care manager with PruittHealth Home First in Albany, where she remained from 2014 to 2017.

Before Ms. Lewis’ father passed, he told her to devote herself to caring for other people, do what she loved and follow her dreams. It was this motivation that led to her establishing S & S Private Home Care, LLC in 2017, where she currently serves as the owner and administrator. In these roles, her day-to-day duties involve interviewing clients who are applying for program services, interviewing potential employees to ensure they meet the standards of care she wishes to provide to clients, managing payroll, and ensuring that her business complies with local and state regulations. Today, S & S Private Home Care provides a range of services to clients, including personal care, companionship, skilled nursing, light housekeeping, errand assistance, transport to and from doctor’s appointments, respite care and first aid.

Ms. Lewis’ mission with S & S Private Home Care is based on the line from Matthew 20:28, “The son of man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Her years in home care have led to many memorable moments, she fondly recalls a client who became something like a second grandmother to her and taught her much in the time they spent together. Presently, her goals for the company include adding lab testing services for drugs and COVID-19 and expanding and developing new programs geared toward children in need of home care. To benefit her own skills, Ms. Lewis has joined Albany State University, where she is pursuing a degree in registered nursing. She expects to graduate in 2025.

Above everything, Ms. Lewis’ favorite part of her work is making people smile. She loves listening to the stories she is told and is frequently met with praise for her work. She had one client tell her that they wished they could have Ms. Lewis with them full time, while others have compared her to an angel or said things like, “Where have you been all my life?” Standing out for the purity of heart she brings to everything she does, she notes that she lives with her heart and lets God guide her. Ms. Lewis feels incredibly blessed and overjoyed to have grown S & S Private Home Care into the successful business it is today. She is deeply grateful to her amazing staff and strongly believes that she would not be where she is today without them.

Born to father Lawrence Randle and mother Louise H. Randle, Ms. Lewis considers her greatest motivation throughout her career to be her two children, Sojour T. Williams and Elijah L. Randle; her two brothers, Chad D. Hall and Lawrence L. Randle Jr.; and her sister, Tamikia L. Hall. Their continued support has kept her inspired and motivated alongside the ever-present influence of her mother, whom Ms. Lewis considers to be her queen. Proud to have grown so significantly in leadership ability, Ms. Lewis loves being a source of motivation and encouragement to others and would advise young and aspiring professionals to follow their dreams and never give up.
